It wasn't long before another Balkan coffee shop took up quarters across the street, the Tirana Cafe. The interior is a little more family-orientated than the sporty coffee shop, and it features a bit more of a menu. It has a big screen television that broadcasts programming from Albania.
Black Lotus colonized the corner of Main and 14 Mile Road in the name of the classic English pub. It boasts a long list of beers brewed on premises, while you watch. Watching beer brew is not exactly a spectator sport, though. It's a lot more fun to watch Jason keep the popcorn bin full with hot buttered perfection.
Adding a Filipino touch to the international scene, recently the Royal Kubo sought asylum in downtown Clawson after being squeezed out of its Oak Park, Michigan location. The Royal Kubo is the place to go if you love to sing Karaoke; the disc jockey maintains his equipment on a loft level built just for the sound system. Send your requests up to him by means of a clipboard on a cable he raises and lowers. For an extra special treat, enter by the rear door, and you'll be enchanted by the scent of burning incense.
There is an old time Clawson bar on Main south of the corner with 14 Mile that has changed its name to Moose Wisnoski's. Wisnoski sounds Polish-American, but the North American Cultural Archive will have to visit before it can see how Polish-American is the bar.
